We would like to welcome the new RD Roller Derby skates to the range of skates we carry, this is in addition to the Sure-Grip, Riedell and Crazy derby skates we currently stock!
RD Roller Derby are a relatively new brand that is focused on developing and manufacturing cost effective skates for the entry level market, in particular with a focus on kids skates.
The first of the range to arrive are the RD Roller Derby M4 Viper skates which come in two styles to suit your taste, either black and red or white and purple at a competitive price of $135 including GST!
Key features of these skates include:
- Comfort boot with quick dry lining
- Synthetic construction
- Velcro power strap
- PRTX Pro nylon plates
- 58mm x 40mm speed formula wheels
- ABEC 5 Bearings
- Bolt on toe stops
- Available in sizes 5 to 10
My thoughts on them so far are:
These skates are aimed at the entry level market and are a great skate for the growing junior skater or the occasional recreational skater. Just don’t expect them to be comparable to a more expensive skate.
I wouldn’t recommend them for a large skater or someone that skates hard as the plates are nylon. If you are just wanting to give it a go without spending a lot of money though then they are a great option and are about the only skate at this price point with multiple colour choices.
Probably the most comparable skate from other brands is the Riedell RW Volt (available here). The Volt has a similar set of specs but at $159 they are $24 more expensive than the Viper M4′s at the time of writing.
